Comparison

What is the best SERP API for your project?

There is no single best SERP API. It all depends on your use case, your volume and how long you can wait for results. Here are seven services compared on practical criteria, with their strengths and limits.

Key takeaways
  • To get results within seconds, choose Serper, SerpApi or SearchApi. Semscraper works with a queue: expect around twenty seconds of collection for one page, plus the wait in your account's queue.
  • Semscraper lists a base price of €0.30 for 1,000 one-page Google searches, with pixel position and asynchronous AI Overviews included at no extra cost.
  • For several engines or a single SEO data provider, SerpApi, SearchApi and DataForSEO cover far more than Google.

Which SERP API should you choose?

  • AI agent, chatbot, real-time answers: Serper for the price, SerpApi or SearchApi if you also need other engines. All three respond within seconds.
  • Rank tracking and SEO research on Google: Semscraper, which includes pixel position, the Google results page each result appears on and complete AI Overviews in the base price.
  • Full SEO tool with a single provider: DataForSEO, which adds search volumes, backlinks and page analysis to its SERPs.
  • Several engines and sites (Bing, Baidu, Amazon, YouTube…): SerpApi (more than 70 APIs) or SearchApi (more than 60).
  • High volumes on Google (rank tracking, research, datasets): Semscraper, which can collect several million SERPs a day.
  • Purchasing that requires security certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27701) and several engines: Bright Data.

Price per 1,000 queries

Price of one Google results page (the top 10) for 1,000 queries, based on public pricing checked on October 12, 2026, excluding tax, each service in its own currency:

Prices per 1,000 queries assume the plan or pack is fully used. The minimum amount to pay is shown in brackets.

Two options change the comparison. At DataForSEO, the on-screen position of results and AI Overviews that load after the page each cost one extra base price: $0.60 per 1,000 in the standard queue. At Semscraper, both are included. To go beyond the top 10, check each service's rules: most bill every results page, and the price of following pages is not always shown.

Speed and collection mode

ServiceStated response timeMode
Serper1 to 2 secondsReal time
SearchApiunder 2 seconds on averageReal time
SerpApinot specifiedReal time, or asynchronous with later retrieval
ValueSERPnot specifiedReal time, or scheduled batches of up to 15,000 queries
Bright Dataunder 5 seconds in real time, about 5 minutes in batchReal time or asynchronous batches
DataForSEOabout 6 seconds live, 1 to 5 minutes in the queueLive or queue, with callback
Semscraperaround twenty seconds median for one page, around fifty for 10 pages, plus the wait in the account's queuePer-account queue with priority, callback, up to 1,000 keywords per request

Semscraper is not the right choice when every second counts, and that delay is by design. Each search is run the way a real user would run it: results pages are opened one after another in the same browser, never in parallel. If Google shows a captcha along the way, the whole keyword starts again from the first page rather than resuming where it stopped with another connection. That way, every page of a SERP comes from the same session, as in a real search. It is slower than an instant answer, but ideal for rank tracking, research and datasets, where you send thousands of keywords and fetch the results when they are ready.

All seven services also offer Google Maps results. "Not stated" means we did not find it in the service's public documentation, not that it does not exist. AI Overviews matter: according to our study, nearly one in two loads after the page and only shows up if the API goes and fetches it.

What each one does best

  • Serper: the lowest price per 1,000 queries at high volumes among the real-time APIs compared here, with 2,500 free queries for testing.
  • SerpApi: the widest coverage, extensive documentation and libraries in many languages.
  • SearchApi: broad coverage at a lower price than SerpApi, with browser rendering.
  • DataForSEO: a complete SEO data catalogue from a single provider, and a very cheap standard queue for SERPs without paid add-ons.
  • ValueSERP: a low price for Google with browser rendering, and scheduled batches (daily, weekly…) for recurring tracking.
  • Bright Data: large-scale infrastructure, batch requests and a simple no-commitment offer.
  • Semscraper: detailed Google SERPs, with rank within the block, rank on the page, the results page it appears on and pixel position, complete AI Overviews and Google Maps, at a predictable price in euros. Its limits: no real time, and Google only.

How to choose

Ask yourself three questions. Do you need an answer within seconds? If so, rule out queue-based services. Do you collect Google only, or several engines? And what data do you need on each result: just a title and a URL, or its real on-screen position and the AI Overviews? Then test two services on your own keywords: most have a free offer.

Our method

This comparison is written by Semscraper, one of the providers listed. Competitor details come from their public documentation. We have not tested their performance.

  • Prices and features read on each service's official pages on October 12, 2026: pricing pages, documentation and home page.
  • Price of the entry paid plan and of the best-value plan at volume, excluding tax, calculated per 1,000 queries of one results page, with no currency conversion.
  • Response times as stated by each service: we did not measure them. For Semscraper, median collection time measured on 12 million SERPs from September 12 to October 10, 2026.
